the human spirit, and how the experience of rebuilding in a new country has enriched her life.

JOHN MARKS
Early in his teaching career, John Marks discovered theatre as a vehicle for tapping into the creative spirits of his students. His dramatic flair and vision led John to help found the Trollwood Performing Arts School (TPAS) thirty years ago. Now, as the program gets ready to move to its new location in Moorhead, John remains as committed as ever to the cause, calling the future TPAS a “Dream Garden.” Step into the vibrant foliage of John’s world to peek at the amazing scenes in store for nature lovers, sports enthusiasts, business owners, community organizations and, last but not least, the artistic community of F-M.

"GIVING A DAMN ABOUT DESIGN" - ARCHITECTURE FOR HUMANITY
Two young local associate architects, Rebecca Molldrem and Tia Thomas, started a Fargo chapter of Architecture for Humanity two years ago. It’s part of an international humanitarian group focused on the idea that sustainable architecture and design can actively change and improve lives. During the past nine years the international organization has engaged the creative skills of more than 9,000 architects and designers to help provide shelter for victims of natural disasters and wars. Their motto: “Design Like You Give a Damn.” So far the Fargo chapter has focused its efforts on offering pro bono design services to local non-profits, efforts that have made an incredible impact in the community.

JUAN MONDRAGON
Juan and Annele Mondragon, owners of Juano’s, added a new restaurant, John Alexander’s, to their burgeoning empire. Tennis, a belt-sander, artistry, and a donkey-like work ethic mark the origins of their kingdom. Add a tablespoon of humor and this simple credo: Everyday is Monday.
